Underwater Navigation Course

Learn the art of underwater navigation!

The Underwater Navigation course is designed to give students an understanding of the technique behind navigating below the surface. Using a combination of natural aids and tools such as a compass, and learn practical and effective skills to divers of all levels.

What you’ll learn

You will learn a number of practical skills for navigating underwater. You will learn about:

The aquatic environment and its effect on navigation
Natural navigation – using what’s under the surface to navigate
Compass and compass use

How it works – course structure

Course Day 1 – 8am – 4pm

E-learning: Prior to commencing the course, you will do about 2-4 hours of theory online (Depending on how fast you learn).

This is a one day course. It will start with a quick revision of theory before heading to the boat to perform your dives.

You will do two navigation dives off the Dive Spear and Sport boat before returning to Dive Spear and Sport to summarise learning and for certification.

Course prerequisites:

Open water scuba diver certification
Min age 18 or 10 with parental consent.

What it costs

The cost for this course is: $295

This includes e-learning materials, one day on course, two boat dives, all gear hire, tanks and weights.
